Professional and qualified

I am a fully qualified and very experienced professional counsellor, with a BSc Hons degree, a two-year Diploma and two one-year certificate course awards in counselling.

I am also a trained and qualified counselling supervisor, which allows me to supervise other counsellors and support them in how they practice.

In addition to my private clients, I also used to provide counselling to a charity for people who are homeless or in temporary accommodation, often with long-term mental health conditions, as well as often with drug and/or alcohol dependencies. I have also worked as a school counsellor and as a college counsellor.

I have also been a college lecturer on two counselling courses.

The counselling I offer

I am an integrative counsellor - this means I use different counselling theories and techniques to help me better understand each person and to provide the most appropriate help.

This might include Person Centred counselling (my core way of working), Psychodynamic, Existential and CBT approaches. I also have integrated and used Transactional Analysis and other approaches in how I work.

What is most important is that I offer acceptance and support without any expectations, conditions or judgments. I am genuine and transparent in how I work, and I work hard to ensure I really understand and empathise with every person I see.

Training and development

I maintain and continue to develop my skills and knowledge of counselling so that I can best help people in an ethical and professional way. I regularly attend and participate in additional training and courses.
