Ensuring I work for your well-being

About me

I am a fully qualified and very experienced professional counsellor, with a BSc Hons degree, a two-year Diploma and two one-year certificate course awards in counselling.

As well as my private clients, I provide counselling to a charity for people who are homeless or in temporary accommodation. I have also worked as a school counsellor and as a college counsellor.

I have also been a lecturer on two counselling courses at a local college.

The counselling I offer

I am an integrative counsellor - this means I use different counselling theories and techniques to help me better understand each person and to provide the most appropriate help.

What is most important is that I offer acceptance and support without any expectations, conditions or judgments. I am genuine and transparent in how I work, and I work hard to ensure I really understand and empathise with every person I see.

Safe, ethical and secure

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical guidelines in how I work with people. This is to ensure the well-being and rights of all my clients.

I follow all legal responsibilities including GDPR - ensuring confidentiality wherever possible and keeping information secure.

I am a registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and adhere to all their policies regarding GDPR.

You can find out more about the BACP and ICO at the following links:

Training and development

I maintain and continue to develop my skills and knowledge of counselling so that I can best help people. It's ethical and professional for me to do so. Therefore, I regularly attend and participate in additional training days and courses.

My background

I bring all my past experience into who I am as a counsellor. This includes my previous professional life.

Before training to be a counsellor, I worked in a number of different professional areas. I am a qualified and experienced lecturer, having taught at a number of colleges and universities. I worked for a number of years in management, managing staff and volunteers, having trained originally in the arts.
